Insurance & Costs
General
In some situations, homeowners, renters, commercial property, or auto insurance may provide coverage for trauma and biohazard remediation. Coverage depends on the circumstances and individual policy. CDE can provide documentation related to the remediation, but coverage and reimbursement are ultimately determined by your insurance carrier.
You can call CDE first. You do not need to know whether you're covered before asking for help. We can assess the situation, explain what may be needed, and provide documentation you can use when communicating with your insurance carrier.
Yes. When applicable, CDE can provide estimates, invoices, photographs, scopes of work, and other available documentation related to the remediation. Final coverage decisions and reimbursement amounts are determined by the insurance carrier and policy.
Every situation is different. Pricing depends on factors such as the size of the affected area, level of contamination, materials involved, labor, PPE and containment, specialized equipment, biohazard waste disposal, odor remediation, and whether contaminated structural materials need to be removed.
For straightforward situations, we may be able to provide preliminary pricing guidance after learning more about what happened. More complex situations may require an assessment before an accurate estimate can be provided. We would rather give you an honest assessment than quote an unrealistic price simply to secure the job.
Our goal is to clearly explain the recommended scope of work and anticipated cost before remediation begins whenever circumstances allow. If hidden contamination or additional affected materials are discovered, we'll explain what changed and discuss additional work before proceeding whenever practicable.
Biohazard remediation can involve specialized labor, PPE, containment, professional cleaning and disinfection procedures, equipment, removal of contaminated porous materials, regulated waste handling and disposal, odor-source remediation, and documentation. The objective is not simply to make an affected area look clean, but to appropriately address the contamination present.
Insurance isn't required to contact CDE. If you're paying directly, we'll explain the recommended work and anticipated costs so you can make an informed decision. We believe families deserve the same level of transparency and respect regardless of how the service is being paid for.
During an already difficult situation, the last thing you need is uncertainty about cost. CDE believes in explaining what needs to be done, why it's necessary, and what you can expect to pay. If circumstances change, we'll communicate with you before unnecessary additional work is performed. No pressure. No unnecessary services. Clear communication from the beginning.
